I think the most
difficult thing about being a manger in today's society is the challenge of
ongoing motivation of staff. Today's economic challenges have directly impacted
many people which has caused some (not all) to have decreased motivation and
drive to accomplish assigned tasks. As effective leaders/managers it is
important to know your staff and ensure open lines of communication. In these
economic times, doing "more" with "less". Long gone are the
days where you can write a blank check to build out a new department or
initiative. These days, the "low hanging fruit" is gone, you have to
work harder to find the next level of fruit hanging a little higher.
